Hi everyone,
I have a few bits of news with regard to the team roster, where our players are at and what you can expect of SZ in the coming months
We now have some new players joining our ranks whom I'm very, VERY, VERY proud to mention.
We now have Jonny Barbour on board who is very quickly shaping into a killer! Jonny is honestly SZ through and through. I've said to both Jonny and discussed with various players on the squad how much Jonny has to offer based on how quick he is learning and as a testament to his abilities, his performance Saturday gone backed such praises perfectly. Every week is another step into building up form, gunfighting ability, carrying himself on the field and developing his game. Jonny is dedicated to playing and passionate about what he is doing. It's not neccessarily how much ability he carries, his potential or drive to succeed (and trust me, he's got bucket loads of all of the above) but how much heart he has for the game. SZ is about heart and playing for the love of the game with those who play under your banner. With this in mind, Jonny is yet another piece of the SZ jigsaw that has fallen right into place. It's odd, I look back only a matter of months ago and I wonder how the hell we have managed without this guy by our sides.
Our Mr Scotty joined the ranks when the fall children came together and SZ was truly the original team it had been once again. A year and a half since and our very own Scotty has turned into a well rounded player who is now really finding his feet and destined to play insert. Until we began the Carlisle Reball project we hadn't had the sheer volume of gun time we have had since. Although we were developing as players it's only since we've played regular that we've really seen changes. Scotty is one of the players who has had a great deal of benefit playing regular. When I say his game has changed it's honestly the most incredible transformation. He's done himself proud, more over he's done us proud and reenforces what we're all about. What's more important is that after this mention Mr Scott will no longer be worthy of praise. Yep, he's past the point of no return. The dreaded SZ Level. He is now at 'the level' which poor ol' Nath (pet) entered a wee while back. The point where you're at such a point in your own personal game that we no longer need to tell you how good you are becoming because it's vivid in your game. Congrats Scotty lad!
Mike Imrie has been trying to attend Reball with us for some time and it's only been of late he's finally managed to come along. In the 8 months since we began Carlisle Reball Mike has attended two Reball sessions. Just two. Not ten, twenty... two. Not even any prior paintball experience. Just two reball sessions with our guys. So to expect Mike to be able to bump tape side and mug two players ensuring a win is ridiculous. To expect him to blaze down the centre running and gunning all the way without ever dropping his gun or taking his eye off the game is mental. To expect to watch him naturally read and counter bumps is crazy... but he's doing it. Mike is going to be one of those front players who oozes with natural talent. Like Jonny and all of the SZ players before him, he has taken to it like a duck to water. Trust me when I say Mike is one to watch out for. Whats even more fantastic is that Mike is out and out a lovely bloke. He is a true gentleman and SZ welcomes him. It's a complete honour to rock out with this guy, he's got the game in his blood and it's that spirit which has pulled us all together.
So there you have it. New and old developing, changing and shaping our group. It's people like these guys who make up what's truly more than a team. What's more, it's people like these who represent everything which is right about our sport. Hat's off to you lads and heres to the call of FALL CHILDREN.
We're going to hopefully begin training again as a team behind the scenes, using the opportunity to develop players and build up the roster.
This will then lead to full on training against local teams before we begin competing again. It's been our goal to pull together a squad of players who we can count on and offer options to put a team into tournaments each month to represent the city and area. So with Carlisle Reball providing an excellent inlet for new players wishing to compete we are close to reaching our goal and once again give back to the tournament circuit while driving forward as a team and a community.
With FULL sponsorship in the closing stages of going green light we're going to be redesigning a brand new jersey to compliment said sponsor and also offer new tops to the new guns on the roster, expect in the next 6 months prior to the 2012 season brand new SZ jerseys on the backs of our players.
If anyone has any ideas they'd like to share, whether you're a team member or a friend alike, please, please feel free to post up below, it would be really cool to get everyones input, ideas and points of view.
Take care folks and thanks for continuing to support SZ and Carlisle Reball, the comminuty we are ALL building is everyone paintball and Reball are about.
