So the Angel Eyes are delayed but apparently still on their way with a release date yet to be confirmed. Price is 'a very reasonable' £79.95 pre-order. That said they do look SWEET! Although the image below is a badly fabricated photoshop jobbo it does show the potential the mirror lens has to make you look even more like master chief, couple it with the olive green goggle system and Halo scenario players are going to just drop dead or at very best, wee themselves until their bladders begin to bleed (eww).
This got me pondering (which, by normal standards is never a good thing), what's the ultimate goggle system? What features can you include which will honestly provide every player with everything they need? When I first started playing 14 years ago I remember doodling a sketch in the back of my maths book which answered these questions from a 12 year olds perspective. Back then we were offered very little in the way of style or comfort. What I drew was quite simply the V-force profiler. This is one of the reasons I was so desperate to get my hands on a pair the moment they landed in the country, they catered for my every dream a paintball goggle could be. Since then, many a system has came out and in addition to style and performance made a couple of changes as to what we expect from a system but nothing substantial. So I ask you this? What is there still to do? What is there we can add to a system which will push the boundaries. Baring in mind ideas can be as radical or as grounded as you like, the future only holds technological shrinkage in way of visual aid systems, more powerful means of processing and further ergonomical performance so throw your ideas this way. I'll get the band wagon started shall I?
So come on, hit me... what you got guys?
Hell, even if it's an upgrade of an existing system, a cosmetic feature or colour yet to be seen... fire away guys!!!
(Oh and please, get involved, you must have ideas or comments about others ideas, lets get talking folks!!!)

- Tactical HUD - At the call of a number a visual aid can display exactly what your teammate is seeing offering a network of visual coverage for a short burst (i.e. a couple of seconds). A little far fetched I know and obviously not without practice but it'll only require as much training as you'd need to operate as a team, to snapshoot etc. The US military already use the exact same system in their Land warrior system. Instead of a perminant screen why not have it projected into your lens on one side (with optional movement on the display projection device so as to cater for the users prefered position) with a limited transparency.
- Cobra vision - Nope not some fancy tactical technology, military system etc - I'm talking God damn GI-JOE! Cobra commander has the widest lens possible (And it's mirrored), why hasn't someone tried it yet? Yes, it's not necessary but is drinking my own urine necessary? Probably not, but its sterile and I like the taste.
- Light enhancement technology. Hit a spot of hard rain, late hours or a particularly horrible day and you can forget trying to see through your clear lens, let alone your smoke one. One solution would be to utilise low level light thermography or infrared. Using an infrared system it could enhance optics to offer a projected highlight of everything already visible through the lens, essentially using the same technology the military us in their targeting systems in tanks, chopper gunners, UAV's, AT's etc Instead of offering a full thermal image though it instead enhances what can already be seen as a hybrid, almost like a primitive ODST HUD.
